Captain Carroll LeFon, USN, Ret., Departing

Capt. Carroll "Lex" LeFon died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 when his F-21 Kfir crashed while supporting the Navy Fighter Weapons School. I think the best description I've heard of him is "Warrior Poet." He leaves behind his wife, son and two daughters. We pray for them and grieve.

Blue skies, Lex.

"Warrior Poet"--Funny, Pogue, that's "my" nom de plume. Really should have been Lexs' I guess, but he was too self-effacing to ever be that pretentious (although I chose the name as I admired both and Virgil is my middle-name, so thought I'd get double-duty out of it.) Lex and I were both Political Science majors, both pilots, and both fenced sabre, but there the similarity ends. I had simply long admired both warriors (when I wasn't playing one myself in a brief former life) and poets from the time of my youth--Lex was truly both in the actual flesh all rolled into one. I both admired the man while also being jealously in awe of his talents. What a guy...I'm really going to miss him as if he was a life-long child-hood friend...strange, perhaps, but true..

Hi Virgil - didn't mean to step on your nom... :-)

I'm amazed, but not surprised at how many people Lex has touched. I like to think that his example and influence will inspire some junior officer somewhere to greatness.
